The founders of the Space Athletics Federation® (SAF) have already been active in these locations for many years, including organizing 16 marathons at the North Pole and utilizing Svalbard as the departure point each year. Richard Donovan of SAF has also been to Antarctica on 25 occasions to date, bringing athletes of all ages and abilities to the interior of the frozen continent. In addition, he organized the highest desert marathon in the world on 8 occasions, which took place in the region of San Pedro de Atacama in Chile’s Atacama Desert.
