Space Athletics Federation® junior athletes take part in Millrose Games, New York
Ireland’s Saoirse Higgins and Charlie Sweeney competed in the ‘Fastest Kid in the World’ races at the Millrose Games in New York on 11th February 2024.
They were selected as part of a talent ID program operated by Irish coach Dermot McDermott and sponsored by the Space Athletics Federation®.
Saoirse was first to run at 12:30 New York time. She finished sixth in the girls race, won by Bella Brown representing Jamaica. Saoirse said afterwards “I am delighted with myself, chuffed with my run and can’t wait to do more races. New York is so cool.”
Eight-year-old Charlie finished 7th in the boys event. A very close race, just three-tenths of a second separated him from second position.
